Senior Care Summit: Aging in the Age of AI

Wednesday, August 26 from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Ritz Charles | 12156 North Meridian Street Carmel, IN 46032

The central theme to the Senior Care Summit is protection and what it truly means to safeguard an aging generation in an increasingly complex world. Today’s seniors are navigating a perfect storm: limited access to care, rising costs and resource constraints, and a rapidly evolving digital landscape that often feels out of reach.

Our goal is to explore how we can build a stronger, more reliable support system around those who are most vulnerable. Vulnerability, in this context, looks like:

  • Limited access to care and services due to funding constraints, staffing shortages, and capacity limitations
  • Increased exposure to technology they may not fully understand, leaving them more susceptible to scams and exploitation
  • Adult children and caregivers who are busier than ever balancing careers, families, and financial pressures, often with limited time and resources to devote to their aging loved ones

This conference is designed to address these realities head-on and equip attendees with practical strategies to better support the seniors and families they serve.

8:30AM - 9:30AM - Breakfast & Registration

9:30AM - 10:30AM - "Reducing Burnout with Tech: Can AI Help Solve the Caregiver Crisis?" (1.0 CEU)

Jean Ross, RN - Co-Founder, Primary Record

As artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into senior care, organizations are looking to technology to address staffing shortages and reduce caregiver burnout. This session will examine both the opportunities and limitations of AI, exploring how technology can support, rather than replace, clinical judgment and human connection. Attendees will learn how to distinguish between AI tools that simply automate tasks and those that meaningfully enhance caregiver capacity, while identifying practical guardrails for the appropriate use of AI in senior care. The session will emphasize strategies for leveraging technology to improve efficiency without compromising trust, quality of care, or person-centered decision-making.

11:00AM - 12:00PM - "Planning Beyond Technology: Protecting Your Independence Through Medicaid & Long-Term Care Planning" (1.0 CEU)

Christine Stolle, JD - Attorney, Dillman & Owen Estate and Elder Law

As Indiana’s aging population continues to grow, families are increasingly facing a difficult reality: more seniors wish to remain at home, while long-term care facilities and Medicaid-supported communities are experiencing staffing shortages, limited capacity, and growing demand. This presentation will explore proactive planning strategies designed to help aging adults preserve quality of life, how to pay for care, protect caregivers, and maintain access to care in an increasingly strained system. This presentation aims to answer the question, “What challenges still require human planning, regardless of how technology evolves?”

Attendees will learn how tools such as Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts, waiver planning, and caregiver support programs can help families navigate long-term care challenges while preserving dignity, independence, and financial stability. The session will also examine emerging resources and innovative care models, including GUIDE, ABC caregiver support programs, and PACE, within the broader context of aging in an increasingly technology-driven world.

12:05PM - 1:05PM - Lunch (Sponsored by Clover Senior Care & Home Health Care)

1:15PM - 2:15PM - "The New Face of Senior Scams: AI, Deepfakes & Digital Deception" (1.0 CEU)

L. Christopher Knight - Forensic Accountant, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, so do the tactics used by scammers to target older adults. This session will examine the latest AI-enabled fraud schemes, including deepfakes, voice cloning, phishing, and other forms of social engineering. Attendees will learn how these scams work, recognize warning signs that an older adult may be at increased risk, and explore practical strategies to help prevent exploitation and respond effectively when fraud occurs.

2:20PM - 3:20PM - "Aging, Autonomy, and AI: Legal Planning Tools for Protecting Vulnerable Adults" (1.0 CEU)

Lisa Dillman, JD - Managing Partner, Dillman & Owen Estate and Elder Law

As technology evolves and artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into daily life, older adults face new challenges related to autonomy, decision-making, and vulnerability. This session will explore how estate planning, powers of attorney, supported decision-making, and guardianship can be used to protect seniors while still preserving dignity and independence whenever possible. Attendees will gain insight into recognizing diminished capacity, understanding alternatives to guardianship, and navigating the growing intersection between aging, legal planning, and digital risk.

3:50PM - 4:50PM - "Voices That Matter: Real Decisions, Real Families, Real Autonomy" (1.0 CEU)

Braca Cantor, MD - Geriatrician, Community Health Network Healthy Aging Transition Services (HATS)
Jessie Hillock, M.A.,CCC-SLP, CDP - Owner, The Memory Compass

Julie Strouse - Professional Fiduciary, Partners in Aging

Tina McIntosh - Founder & CEO, Joy's House
Danielle Garza - Vice President, Sales & Client Management, USI Affinity

As technology plays an increasingly prominent role in the care of older adults, professionals are faced with complex questions about balancing independence, safety, and self-determination. Through interactive case studies and multidisciplinary discussion, this panel will examine the practical, ethical, and legal considerations surrounding autonomy, decision-making capacity, family dynamics, and the use of emerging technologies in senior care. Attendees will gain perspectives from professionals across multiple disciplines while exploring strategies to support older adults' wishes without compromising safety or quality of care.

4:50PM - 5:00PM - Closing Remarks, CEU Wrap-Up, and Giveaway Drawing
