Caregivers are the quiet backbone of our communities. They show up early, stay late, and carry immense responsibility with compassion, grit, and love. The 12 Days of Caring campaign was created to shine a light on these individuals and to offer tangible support and heartfelt appreciation to those who give so much of themselves every single day.
At Dillman & Owen Estate and Elder Law, we see firsthand how caregiving intersects with aging, health, finances, and family dynamics. Too often, caregivers put their own needs last. This campaign was our way of saying: we see you, we value you, and you are not alone.
Community members were invited to nominate caregivers who were making a difference in their families and neighborhoods. From professional caregivers to parents, neighbors, and loved ones providing unpaid care, the stories we received were powerful, humbling, and deeply moving.
Each selected caregiver received a thoughtfully curated gift basket designed to ease daily burdens and bring a moment of joy. The baskets included gas, grocery, Amazon, and DoorDash gift cards, Roombas to lighten household chores, and a variety of meaningful gifts generously donated by our sponsors.
We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors who made this campaign possible: Dillman & Owen Estate and Elder Law, Grand Brook Memory Care, Partners in Aging, Jamie Boer Homes, Just-In-Time Cleaning Services, Churchill Reporting, and Krueckeberg Auction & Realty. Their generosity and shared commitment to supporting caregivers amplified the impact of this initiative and allowed us to give in a meaningful, practical way.
The stories behind the nominations reminded us exactly why this campaign matters. One family shared about a caregiver whose presence brought peace after loss, writing, “(This caregiver) has become part of our family. He embodies everything a caregiver should be – devoted, patient, and full of heart.”
Another nomination came from a 14-year-old son and his brother, describing a mother who balances cancer treatments, work, and caring for multiple children, saying, “I see her get tired, but she still does everything for all of us.”
We also heard about a solo parent navigating complex medical needs with unwavering steadiness: “I see the calm coaching during hard moments and the extra time she builds in so transitions aren’t overwhelming… She meets it all with patience, planning, and deep love.”
The reach of the 12 Days of Caring extended beyond our immediate community, with features on IndyNow (FOX59) and through Caregiver Crossing (Joy’s House), helping amplify the voices and experiences of caregivers across Central Indiana.
The 12 Days of Caring was more than a campaign. It was a reminder that caregivers deserve recognition, relief, and respect. We are honored to have played a small part in lifting them up and are deeply thankful to everyone who nominated, sponsored, shared, and supported this effort. Together, we celebrated the heart of caregiving and the people who make our community stronger every day.
